The Only Good Part Is The GraphicReviewed by phojo88, 2009-12-11
I bought my first subway shirt in NYC in 2002 -- well made, heavy cotton, good fit. Loved it. I wore it a lot, even to work (warehouse, dock work) and it held up very well, received a lot of comments on it. Ordered another one for my son a couple years later, same quality. But when I finally had to replace my old shirt earlier this year, I received something completely different -- these things are now made about as cheaply as a shirt can be made. No longer a heavy-duty cotton, but a flimsy material that feels more like gauze that an actual shirt. You can feel the graphic right through the shirt, as though it were right against your skin. The fit is much worse -- looser, thinner neckline and much too long. The stitching doesn't hold up after a couple of washes. I contacted the company to complain about the workmanship and the material, and they tried to tell me that the new shirts were actually a better material, a "brushed cotton," and that the manufacturer had changed the style about a year before. The older shirts were great. It's too bad quality has so blatantly taken a back seat to the profit motive.
Gotta Love the ode to the Iron horsesReviewed by Stunt Dogee, 2009-03-23
Being a Native New Yorker, living away for the city, the shirts are like a slice of the city that I can pull out at anytime. The shirts always seem to draw the attention of people wherever I go, especially my fellow New Yorker's Living in my new town. The shirts are not very heavy, but makes them great for the heat of the summer. I love everything about my city and these shirts are one more way for me to put my pride on display!!!
Great concept but disappointing qualityReviewed by Beth Cholette, 2008-12-29
I was excited to find these shirts on line, as I thought the "A Train" version would make a unique gift for my husband. After paying over thirty dollars for this t-shirt, however ($22 for the shirt itself plus a whopping $9 for shipping!), I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the shirt once it arrived. The shirt was not the thick, beefy style which one generally sees in most screen-printed t-shirts; rather, it was ridiculously thin, so thin that it would've been see-through had it not been for the black color of the shirt. Furthermore, I purchased the t-shirt in a size medium for my 5'6" husband, and it was overly long, which made the logo appear too low. For a $10 shirt, these flaws may have been acceptable, but for the money I paid, we decided to return the shirt. Again, this is a great concept, but it's a shame that these shirts were not better executed.

Fits great, looks great and did not shrink. Since it's a symbol of the "A" train, two ladies in the library hummed "Take the A Train" when I walked past!
